Sapphire will be available to users in transition mode during October-December, 2010, to support user migration from sapphire to garnet, the new Cray XE6.
Transition mode means that users:
- will be notified when garnet is available for use.
- will have 30 days to move files to garnet before sapphire is decommissioned.
- may run on sapphire during the transition without allocation.
We currently estimate garnet will be available for use in early November.
We strongly recommend that you save your files off sapphire by October 31 if you are not transitioning to garnet, or if you will be absent from sapphire for an extended period during the transition.
